P.T. Multi Spunindo Jaya Desa Jabaran, Kecamatan Balongbendo Krian, Sidoarjo, Jawa Timur, Indonesia Phone: +62-31-897 1301 Fax: +62-31-897 6666 [email protected] www.spunindo.com P.T. Multi Spunindo Jaya was established in 1997 as the first spunbond nonwovens manufacturer in Indonesia. Its plant is located in the country’s second largest city, Surabaya, in East Java Province, and is ISO 9001-2000 certified. Commercial production began in 1999 and consisted of 1 spinning beam with a capacity of 3,500 tons per year. Three years later a double spinning beam operation was added that brought capacity to 7,200 tons per year. In 2006 commercial production for meltblown nonwovens started with a capacity of 360 tons per year, equipped with online laminating capabilities and new multicolor 3.2 meter width flexo printing. A year later the company added an additional 1 beam spunbond production line capable of producing 4,800 tons per year, and raised the total spunbond capacity to 12,000 tons per year. Again increasing its spunbond footprint, in 2008 the company installed a 2.4-meter width spunbond machine, with a capacity of 2,500 tons per year. In 2009 a second meltblown line was added with a capacity of 700 tons per year. In 2011 the company began commercial production of a SSMMS line with a first phase capacity of 9,000 tons per year and was quickly upped in 2012 during a second phase expansion, with an additional SSMMS capacity of 12,000 tons per year. With the completion of the second phase of its SSMMS line in 2012, P.T. Multi Spunindo Jaya’s total capacity is 27,200 tons per year, which serves a wide range of applications in various industries including: personal care and hygiene; medical; clothing; automotive; agriculture; home furnishing; filtration; building construction and packaging. P.T. Multi Spunindo Jaya sells its products across the globe throughout the U.S., Asia, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. According to general manager of commercial operations, Teguh Luntoro, P.T. Multi Spunindo Jaya’s customers are experiencing strong growth, and to cope with their growth the company is planning for further expansion as well. “Being close with our customers enables us to understand their needs better and develop products that are suitable for them,” he says. The challenge is that customers always want to find ways to improve their products to create more value for their customers, which is increasing the demand for higher quality nonwoven materials, Luntoro says. “They demand better and better material support from their suppliers. This means that we need to keep upgrading our nonwoven products and capabilities to meet their requirements.”
